For this gig(s) I was able to knock off a few items on the Comedy Bucket-List. Featuring at Comedy Cabana was AWESOME. Not only did I get to work along side the hilarious Patty Vasquez, but I got to spend the week in Myrtle Beach with my bud Zinger.
It was a 5 day, 7 show spot, and each night brought a different crowd and different challenges. Sometimes the crowd was old, or young, or drunk, or ready to talk back. It was definitely an adventure and a great way to grow and experience stand-up. There was no night, however, that wasn’t fun.
At this club, you are required to do a few radio spots as well, which is nothing less than a spectacular time. On Wednesday and Friday, we appeared on the T and A Morning Show on Rock 105.5 Wilmington and 104.1 Myrtle Beach with Tommy and Abbie. Live airwaves are similar to a stage crowd, but a little more laid back. Tommy and Abbie were fun to hang out with and a blast to be around.
The headliner I got to work with was incredible. Patty Vasquez (http://lipstick.pattivasquez.com) is what I like to call “Tough-Crowd Proof”. We had 90% great crowds this week. But even on the tough nights, Patty could really bring it home, EVERY TIME. It inspired you and made you mad at the same time to watch her. She was friendly, helpful, and down right cool. She’s going to get even bigger than she already is, so keep an eye out, you will be hearing about her.
Finally, the best part of the week, barely had to do with comedy. I so rarely get to bring my wife along when I do comedy because it is so far away or because of conflicting schedules. But this weekend, I lucked out big time. Elizabeth was able to come down and see me perform. We also got to keep a few Myrtle Beach traditions, and let Zinger run around on the beach. All in all people, this was a great week of comedy and life.
