Cairn University! Or Carin? Caarn? Kerns? However you say, the kids at Cairn are awesome. And what a fun year to have joined them at their Spring Gala. The kids at Cairn enjoy the basic things in life: Fish smelling trees outside Manor Residence Hall, late night Wawa runs, Chick-fil-a binges, finding ways to get out of chapel attendance, relieving stress with donuts provided by student living and more. I had found out through visiting their site, that David Crowder had performed for them in the fall. So all I had to do was be the David Crowder of Comedy for the night, and I’d be fine. It was a little harder than usual. The sound system provided by the country club where the event was held was similar to the Fischer-Price recorder your Dad used when he was a kid…when it was working. It was decided unanimously, by the audience, that when the mic went out and stopped working the second time, me shouting to 300 people actually sounded better. So for an hour, I shouted my entire set like Lil-John promoting a hip-hop tour. The next day I had the voice of Clint Eastwood after 30 years in a Coal Mine. But I’ll be danged if it wasn’t an amazing show. I have never had to do that before and am grateful it still went incredibly well. The crowd was great, the food was delish, and a blast was had by all. A big thanks to the Student Programs at Cairn for putting on this awesome event.
